Some Recent Work

Hey y’all, haven’t blogged in a while, so I figure it’s time to give an update on some recent illustration and printmaking work I’ve done.

Last month, I designed this poster for POWHR’s summer appeal. Everyone who donates at least $50 to POWHR before the end of August will receive a hard copy of this. I love POWHR and famously hate the Mountain Valley Pipeline, so I felt extremely good about lending my skills to this project!

For several months now, I’ve been working on illustrating the student manual for Rosa Luxemburg Foundation’s Organizing For Power: Workers Rising Everywhere training series (I took this course last year, and it’s a phenomenal course for anyone interested in doing any real organizing. I call things to mind from this class on a daily basis. Take it if you can!). I’m so proud to be part of this crew I can’t really put it into words. Eternal gratitude to Jane McAlevey and everyone at O4P for caring about my little drawings enough to hire me to do this.

I also printed shirts and posters for Armagideon Time (excellent new hardcore/crust/d-beat band from Richmond). Check them out here and try to catch them live if you can.

My Patreon has been going strong and paying for my studio space, which makes it possible for me to keep doing illustration and printmaking. I’d love to get a few more patrons to help defray my supplies costs, but in general the Patreon is keeping Black Gum Print Shop sustainable. You can join it here and get prints monthly! There are three different tiers, starting at $5/month.

Whipped up and riso printed this little flyer for an upcoming Richmond IWW event. It’s based on a historical IWW design promoting a shorter work day (still a good idea). If you’re in Richmond, consider coming out for this!

I also made these “Abortion is a Miracle” prints on the letterpress in a fit of rage and sold them at last month’s Richmond Moon Market. I have a few left over and will likely put them in the shop soon.

That’s all I can call to mind right now. I should try to do these more regularly. In the meantime, if you’d like me to illustrate or print something for me, reach out!
