I’m going to start posting snippets of works in progress and other musical minutiae here. Here’s something I did today just because I was feeling really desperate to use my voice. Close-in apartment living (which I’m very much not used to!) makes me feel afraid to talk loud, play music (I put a sock in my banjo and barely strike the strings of my dulcimer — everything else happens in headphones), and especially sing. My singing voice tends to carry. Anyway, I recorded myself singing this old Smoky Mountain (via Scotland) folk ballad to make sure I still had a voice. It ain’t fancy — it’s a capella and you can hear my upstairs neighbor walking around and yelling — but it’s a good, sad bedtime story if you need one.
